Cara Adelante is organized as a Mexican civil association committed to the development of women’s education in Michoacán. Education is a means to generate opportunities for young women to develop as individuals and realize the potential to become professionals with a sense of achievement and accomplishment.
Cara Adelante AC formulated a model where it promotes the support of female high school students through scholarships that will cover food, housing and education expenses. In the beginning, the association will support the adolescents who belonged to Hogar Providencia De Don Vasco I.A.P., an institution that supported around 2,000 girls during 75 years of service.
The AC also extends its reach to young women in the region where poverty and difficult access to secondary and higher education exist. Many times these young women decide to leave school even with above average cognitive skills. The potential to obtain academic success and to become women generators of change is critical to their communities.
Our Mission
Encourage support for secondary and higher education, to favor young women (adolescents) with few opportunities to achieve full inclusion in the educational and social field, from low-income families.
Our Vision
To be recognized as an association that believes in education as the main factor for social change, with firm convictions about the potential of women, increasing their opportunities for autonomous and professional development.

- Signed contracts with parents and girls
The beneficiaries sign a scholarship contract stipulating co-responsibility clauses between both parties, including maintaining a minimum average of 8 during the duration of the scholarship. Constant reporting is coordinated between the school and the staff of Cara Adelante AC.
The scholarship regulations indicate the duration of the scholarship and the penalties for which the contract could be canceled. In addition students agree to “house rules” of coexistence that will support the operation of the house, based on the values with which the association is governed.
The support offered by the association’s model provides housing to the beneficiaries jointly with the high school and separately to the university.
In the case of university students, each beneficiary chooses the school where they will study higher education and each college student signs a contract specific to their situation. A budget specific to each student is prepared and the university verifies billing and grades that are reported to the staff and to the members of the association.
- Learning independent living skills
The budget for the high school housing maintenance is made as a group. Weekly shopping, meal preparation, cleaning and household duties are shared and rotated weekly. Oversight of activities and time management is performed by the administrative staff.
